Baby Boomers - Vision Care

Tips for Baby Boomers Seeking Vision Care

AARP membership offers Baby Boomers discounts on glasses and vision care.Baby Boomers likely need glasses and regular eye exams.  And just as likely, this will not be covered by an independent health insurance policy.  Vision care for Baby Boomers can be an expensive issue.  But there are some programs that mitigate the cost to you.

Baby Boomers not covered by insurance can still enjoy savings on vision care services and products simply by:

  • Joining the AARP, whose members save 30 percent on eyewear (exams, frames, lenses, and lens options) and up to 20 percent on contact lens.

  • EyeMed Vision Care, founded by LensCrafters offers affordable vision care insurance to small businesses.  This is the AARP program for individuals.

If you cannot afford vision care, many state and national resources regularly provide aid to people with vision problems.  You may also contact a social worker at a local hospital or other community agency. Social workers often are knowledgeable about community resources that can help people facing financial and medical problems.
