Tips and Information about Low-Cost Dental Insurance Plans

for Baby Boomers Living on a Fixed or Limited Income

Low-cost dental plans for Baby Boomers.Seeing a dentist when you are a Baby Boomer on a fixed or limited income can be expensive.  The good news is that there are inexpensive dental plans you can join for just a few dollars monthly.  While they don't cover all the dental costs, they do provide substantial discounts on dental services.  Discount dental plans, designed to provide significant savings on members' dental care needs, have quickly become an attractive alternative to costly dental insurance.

Generally speaking, dental plans entitle you to a discount on dental services. Baby Boomers can avail themselves of these discounts at any registered dentist. Dental discounts are quite different from the dental insurance. Dental discounts can cover all dental problems whether it is pre-existing or not.

Joining a dental plan has several advantages for Baby Boomers on a fixed income:

  • They are affordable.

  • No long application form.

  • No health restrictions.

  • Quick activation.

  • No annual limits.

  • Average of $90-$170 annually for an individual; $100-$200 annually for families.

The main catch is that you have to use a dentist that accepts your plan.  Also, you must pay the dentist for the balance (after discount) on the day of service (unless you personally make arrangements otherwise with your dentist).

  • - The AARP has a partnership with Delta Dental to provide inexpensive dental plan coverage for seniors.  If you are an AARP member, this is the way to go.  Their plans offer 50-100% discounts on dental procedures up to a maximum of $1,200 annually.
